What is Divvy?

What kind of things can Divvy be used for?
Anything. You can use Divvy to make stuff or services reservable, on a self-help basis, to whomever you choose to grant access: conference rooms, lawn mowers, bicycles, handyman services, planes, boats, salon services, automobiles, tools, scooters, guest suites, elevators...
Is it free?
Signing up and using Divvy is free. However, if you automate your payment processing by integrating with Paypal, Divvy and PayPal take a percentage of each transaction. More details about the fee schedule are available

How does Divvy work?
If you control an asset, you can create your own private Divvy website; doing so only takes about a second. You then 'create an item' by describing it and specifying the parameters for its use, such as time increments, fees, security deposits, and rules. Creating an item takes just about 30 seconds.
I don't have a PayPal account. Can I still use Divvy?
Yes, but if you want to charge a fee or collect security deposits, you'll need to create a Premier or Business Account at PayPal. Click

Only if it is a Premier or Business Account. If you have a Personal account, it is easy (and free) to upgrade. Click

How do I know what kind of PayPal account I have?
Just login to PayPal
here. You'll see your account type under "My Account Overview".
Must the people using my Divvy website have their own PayPal Account?
Only if you have integrated payment processing. Otherwise, Divvy will just track balances due and your users don't need to have a Paypal account.
How many different items can I have on my website?
As many as you'd like...and each item can have its own parameters for use: its own time increments, its own fee structure, and its own rules. What's more, you can control which of your users have access to each item.
May I have more than one website?
No. In Divvy, we call your website a 'space'. Spaces are created by owners, and we presently only allow owners to have one free space. You may, however, be a 'renter' in as many spaces as you can get approval for; you'll be able to access them all with a single Divvy account. If you're currently a 'renter', you may create YOUR own space by clicking on 'My Spaces' and then on 'New Space'.
Am I insured?

I just want to rent or reserve stuff from other people. Should I sign up for Divvy?
If you don't have anything that you want to make available to others, then just wait for an owner to invite you to their private Divvy website. Once the owner approves you, you'll have access to that owner's space, and you'll be able reserve any items that the owner gave you permission to use.
I want to rent from more than one Divvy website? Can I do that?
Yes. Your Divvy account will give you access to every Divvy space to which you have been granted access by the respective owners.
